Special sessions are open to projects, teams and organizations whose work focuses on various aspects of small-scale fisheries. Each session will be 90 minutes in duration, and will be held as part of the “concurrent sessions” in the program. Due to space limitation, all proposed sessions must have at least SIX confirmed participants, which could include a chair/moderator, speakers and/or discussants. Special consideration will be given to sessions that include presentations by researchers from the Global South and early career scientists.
To increase the chance of your session being accepted, please explain in the form below how this session is contributing or is related to one or more of the congress themes. Interactive and innovative format is welcomed.

Science Café is an interactive, informal format for project presentation that works like a ‘workshop’ or a ‘speed dating’ with a much longer duration. Each project team will have access to 1-2 roundtables to display their materials and other props. The session will be 90 minutes in total, divided into THREE 25-minutes blocks. Since participants will likely move to other tables at the 25-minutes mark, the project team may need to repeat the presentation three times unless it is organized as a continued presentation. Science Café will take place in plenary, ensuring project will have a good exposure, including during the 2-minutes pitch at the start of the session.
Note that projects can be accepted either as a Special Session or a Science Café (not both). At least TWO people need to be confirmed participants in order to host a Science Café. Thus, if you are not able to confirm SIX people for the Special Session when the abstract is submitted, we suggest that you select the Science Café format.
